Winter Village Making!
Leslie is super excited about sharing her love of all things Christmas and winter village! She helped the School Age kids build their own winter village!
Loose Parts!
We used loose-parts such as ice-cream sticks, pipe cleaners, hot glue guns, glue sticks, paper and let their imagination run! Children built houses, frames etc using the loose parts.
Snowflakes!
We decided to start our Christmas decorations! The kids planned this activity to make different designs of snowflake by using cotton and glue.
Monster Painting
In this art activity, we made different kinds of monsters by using straw, paint and googly eyes!
Egg Carton Poppies
In this activity, we used egg cartons to make poppies! We had a chance to talk about what the Poppy means, how they came to be known and the importance of Remembrance Day.
Rangoli!
We decided to make DIY Rangoli powder (it is an art form that originates from the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor using powdered colours). We used salt, rice, sand, flour, food colouring and turmeric to make rangoli powder.
At first, we felt the texture and talked about the texture they liked the most. Then, we used food colouring and turmeric to colour our ingredients.
Remembrance Day Poppies
Today we started our Remembrance Day activities with painting poppies! We Remember.
Balloon Challenge!
In this activity, kids used straws to pick up the balloons on table without using their hands. It was a challenge for the kids to pick up balloons by using a straw.
Washing Pumpkins
Washing pumpkins using toothbrushes. It's great way of sensory water play. During this activity, they got chance to feel pumpkins in the water.
Pumpkin Drawings
During this Halloween season, we decided to plan an activity with pumpkins! We told the kids to decorate the pumpkins by drawing on them! The kids were so very excited to draw and make different designs on the pumpkins.
Pumpkin Bowling
In this activity, we used water bottles and small pumpkins as the ball! They rolled the pumpkin to knock the water bottle pins down. We got to see how different pumpkins, the way they rolled, and which way to roll them to knock as many pins down as we could!
Stick Challenge
We worked as a team with hockey sticks in a circle. We had to move to one side without having the hockey stick fall and move as one big group. There was a lot of communication and team work for this activity!
Car Math
Earning some car points!
In this activity, the kids helped me to set the activity (as they are our classroom helpers)
We used a table, some tape, and cars. The kids could earn points while rolling car on the table and wherever it stops, that’s the point they earn.
Some kids used racing cars and some used trucks.
At the end of the activity, the children helped me to add up their points.
We used a variety of gross and fine motor skills for this activity!
Halloween Pumpkin Making
Children were able to work with pipe cleaners to create mini pumpkins!
Balloon Race
During this activity kids had a race with balloons from one side to other side by kicking the balloons with their hands, head and foots, this activity helped them to move, stay active focusing on what their are doing.
Kids really have fun doing this activity their moved their body and stay active before going in classes.
Sensory Painting
In this activity we made the paint come alive! This activity helped the school age children to work with their sensory perceptions. We used paper, paint, zip lock bag, and brushes. The children had a great time exploring their sensory experience through the different materials.
