Rangoli!

We decided to make DIY Rangoli powder (it is an art form that originates from the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor using powdered colours). We used salt, rice, sand, flour, food colouring and turmeric to make rangoli powder.

At first, we felt the texture and talked about the texture they liked the most. Then, we used food colouring and turmeric to colour our ingredients.

In this activity, we used water bottles and small pumpkins as the ball! They rolled the pumpkin to knock the water bottle pins down. We got to see how different pumpkins, the way they rolled, and which way to roll them to knock as many pins down as we could!

Earning some car points!

In this activity, the kids helped me to set the activity (as they are our classroom helpers)

We used a table, some tape, and cars. The kids could earn points while rolling car on the table and wherever it stops, that’s the point they earn. 

Some kids used racing cars and some used trucks.

 At the end of the activity, the children helped me to add up their points. 

We used a variety of gross and fine motor skills for this activity!
